Checks For Value

Recently, I took part in a committee made up of men and women. At the beginning of the meeting, as an icebreaker, we participated in a game; it was a lively task to get each person to think with an end resolution. We all had been given a sheet of paper that described a scene of preparing for guests who were to arrive for the party within the next ten to fifteen minutes. Listed were several chores that needed to be completed, such as, take out the trash, light the candles, call Joe to bring ice, pick up clothes from the floor, pack the luggage for the next business day trip, and so forth. Each of us had to place a number from one through ten on the paper to indicate the order in which each chore needed to be completed before the guests arrived, so from the most important to the least important.
Afterwards, we compared lists, and not one person shared the same priority as I did. In fact, no two lists were the same. That demonstration raised our awareness that we all have different points of view and though each one is valid, a particular plan can be valued differently by individuals even though they all seek the same outcome. Ingrained into our consciousness are things we hold dear; certain factors can determine how we prioritize sequences in our lives or the endeavors we set out to accomplish. To avoid disruptions, remember there must be an established goal that all participants value equally if the undertaking is to be a success.
